What is a Paper Movie?

Must Read Publishing are the first publishing house to consistently produce books that are half text and half graphic novel to capture the power of both mediums to tell a story. These books are called Paper Movies.

Instead of graphics that illustrate the text or break the flow of the story, Paper Movies flow seamlessly from text to graphic novel to capture the action and emotion of every book.

“Our aim,” says Sheena, of Must Read Publishing, “was to use the strength of graphic novels and traditional novels together to tell a story. There are some things that text alone cannot convey, yet you cannot capture the depth of a story using only images. So we came up with the Paper Movie. A combination of both text and graphic novel.”

Must Read Publishing is also careful to select only the best stories to turn into Paper Movies. “We want you to know that you will get a good read, no matter which of our books you pick up.”

The team

The people who create paper movies are talented people under 30 years of age, who are passionate about telling stories through beautiful graphics and text.

Most of the team are freelance writers and illustrators from South Africa.
