This week we will be taking a look at a quick review of hands and how to make them look old.

To refresh your memory on drawing hands, check the blogs a few weeks back there was a hands tutorial.

In brief, start by finding the beginning point at the bottom of the hand, the 5 bones extending through the palm from that point, joining to the knuckles.

Decide on the direction of the fingers and point out each knuckle and fill in the blanks.

The trick to older hands is the veins. As you age the veins in your hands become more obvious. So, add in those veins.

The less obvious step is to make the fingers slightly longer and thinner (or fatter depending on the person, in which case you rely on the veins). To get the thinner look just enlarge the knuckles!

Also make the hands and fingers gnarly and crooked. Think of the arthritis setting in and bending the bones.
