how to draw a cyborg
Hi Guys
This week and a few following we’ll be taking a look at Sci-fi art and how to sketch it up without it looking like toys.
When I was was younger is really struggled to make my Cyborg/robot pics look cool. They always ended up looking like toys. So I practiced. And practiced some more. And on top of that I did research. For sci fi mechanical reference, go have a look at the concept art for star wars, terminator and whatever other material you can get your hands on. It will help.
So, have a look at this weeks attachment. Youll see 3 phases of a cyborg arm and face. The first pic of both body parts is with the human skin still intact. The second pic is how a lot of my failures used to end up. Looking like toys because if was a afraid to experiment. Never be afraid to go crazy and then refine it afterwards. The third drawing is the ned product of how I scketch cyborgs now. Heavy movie influence, with alot of my own style in the mix.
Mine are a bit complex, but it doesn’t always have to make sense. My objective is to make it look cool and interesting. And less like toys. I follow the shape of the arm and translate it into cybernetics adding in a lot of different plates connected by wiring and hydraulics. The key is to keep the look interesting without going overboard. But again you are allowed to go crazy. So have a look at what ive done here, and take a few attempts at drawing your own cyborg!
